Max characters of matched text returned per hit.
A single history message can be hundreds of KB, and this tool must never be
the reason a caller blows its own context window — the problem it exists to
solve is an agent not being able to audit itself, which is made worse, not
better, by an answer too large to read. Not theoretical: the
GetAgentTranscript call that motivated
SPEC_AGENT_HISTORY_SEARCH_2026_09_17.md returned 112 KB and had to be
spilled to a file.
