fn is_valid_probe(bytes: &[u8]) -> bool

Validate a received UDP datagram as an in-protocol discovery probe. Anything that fails to parse as JSON, or does not carry the exact type/v fields, is treated as noise (unrelated LAN traffic or a future/older protocol version) and silently ignored by the caller.
